Overview

The global search

Global Search lets you quickly find and navigate to any item in your Farseer workspace — sheets, dashboards, dimension tables, variables, apps, and files.

Opening Global Search

There are two ways to open Global Search:

  • Keyboard shortcut: Press Cmd+P (Mac) or Ctrl+P (Windows/Linux)

  • Search icon: Click the search icon in the left sidebar

A centered modal opens with a search input field at the top.

Searching & Filtering

Start typing to search across all items in your workspace. Results appear instantly, grouped by type.

Use the filter toggles below the search bar to narrow results to specific item types:

  • Sheets

  • Dimension Tables

  • Variables

  • Dashboards

  • Files

  • Apps

You can activate multiple filters simultaneously. When no filters are selected, all item types are included.

Each result displays the item name, its type icon, and a breadcrumb path showing its location in the folder hierarchy.

Keyboard Navigation

  • ↑ / ↓ Arrow keys: Navigate through results

  • Enter: Open the selected item

  • Tab: Autocomplete — fills the search bar with the selected item's name

  • Escape: Clears the search query (press again to close the modal)

Recent History

When the search bar is empty, Global Search shows your recently searched items — the last 15 items you've navigated to through search. This makes it easy to quickly jump back to items you've recently worked on.

Search history is stored locally in your browser and is specific to your current workspace.
